🚗 Car Hitchhiking

When?
Join us for CERN Mobility Week, March 17–19, 2026, and try hitchhiking – a fun, friendly, and sustainable way to get around.

CERN Car Hitchhiking encourages colleagues to give each other a lift when moving around or between CERN sites.
It’s a simple way to reduce traffic, lower emissions, and make better use of cars already on the road.

Who can join?
Everyone! Drivers and passengers, CERN or private vehicles. A few rules:

• CERN vehicles: only pick up passengers inside the fenced area.
• All riders need a valid CERN access badge.
• Drivers using the inter-site tunnel: make sure your passengers have the right permit.

Why?
We want to normalize hitchhiking at CERN and introduce it to those who haven’t tried it yet. Share your experiences, help inspire others, and maybe become a hitchhiking ambassador!
